The Man Next Door

Well on January 6th Seth and I became homeowners!!  God has really confirmed that we did make the right decision.  Our first day of moving in just about all of our neighbors came by to welcome us.  They were so friendly and helpful.  One particular neighbor, our next door neighbor, came and introduced himself to us along with a bag of nuts he brought for us.  Come to find out this guy worked with my dad for 40 years.  He knew him really well and thought alot of my dad.  He was even at the funeral when my dad died, and I didn't even know it.  This man's eyes lit up when he found out who I was.  He told me that he was going to take good care of us and told us to come by or call for anything.  I was so flabbergasted at this.  God is so cool.  He knew before we even bought this house that this man, who knew my dad, would be my next door neighbor.  God always takes care of us, and this little man next door was evidence of that.  God knew I needed that comfort in my life.  It was so hard moving into the house without my dad because last time I moved my dad was there to help, and now this time he wasn't.  Ever since I met this man next door, I feel like a piece of my dad is here.  I know that Seth and I chose this house for a reason.

It's so nice to have a house all to ourselves.  We don't have to worry about climbing up and down anymore stairs, hearing our neighbors any time they move, or worry about our neighbors hearing us anytime we move.  The house is sort of an eye sore inside, but I love the layout.  The rooms are huge, and the outside is in great condition.  I'm so excited to begin putting our own style on this house. This will be a looong process, but it will be worth it in the end. Owning a home is expensive, and I'm not even talking about the utilities, upkeep, and such.  It's just that there is so much potential to do so much, and everything costs way too much.  We've made a lists of projects that we want to complete on the house, but it may take years to finish.  Project #1 was to pot all of my plants from my dad's funeral.  These plants were in the same baskets since August, and now that I have a porch and a yard, I have a place to put them.  So, Seth and I went to pick out pots and soil for the plants and a water hose because we didn't have one.  I have expensive taste, so of course the pots I picked out were not the cheapest.  We left the store spending $200 just on one little project!  Project #2 was to buy brand new blinds for our bedroom because the other blinds were old and literally see through.  The entire houses blinds are like that, but we can wait to replace the rest later.  We ended up spending a little over $100 on that.  Project #3 is to knock out a huge wall.  We want to open up our living/kitchen/dinning area to make one huge great room.  Seth is supposed to start getting bids on that in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed..it's not too much.  All in God's timing though.

Here is a scripture to close.  Love to all!!

"But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul."  Deutronomy 4:29
